Rather than resorting to coffee try this wonderful combination of maca and raw cacao powder for a healthy morning boost. Using cashew nuts creates a creamy texture and also provides plenty of tryptophan to help balance mood. This recipe is taken from my book Eat Yourself Pregnant. Maca is an incredible stress busting superfood. It also helps to balance the hormones by nourishing and balancing the endocrine system.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place the cashew nuts and water in a blender and process until smooth.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients except the ice and process until smooth.
  3. Blend in the ice. Sprinkle over a little grated chocolate if wished.

75g cashew nuts

250ml coconut water

1tsp maca powder

1 banana, cut into slices and frozen

2tbsp raw cacao powder

1tbsp Chia Seeds

1tbsp coconut sugar or honey

1tsp vanilla extract

two large handfuls crushed ice

a little grated chocolate for sprinkling
