Naturally sweet with only the addition of a banana this delicious indulgent tasting chocolate granola is packed with protein. Perfect for grab and go breakfast options and children will love this (so much healthier than coco pops!). Store this in an airtight container for a couple of weeks. You can use this as a healthy snack or layered in glasses with coconut yogurt and fruit too.

What’s Good About It?

The addition of nuts and seeds provides plenty of healthy fats while gluten free oats are packed with slow releasing carbohydrate and soluble fibre. Blending in the protein powder is an easy way to increase the overall protein content.

 

 

  1. Place the oats in a large bowl with the nuts and seeds and mix well.
  2. In a nutri bullet or blender add the melted oil, protein powder, cocoa powder, banana, vanilla and coconut milk or coconut water. Blend to form a thick puree.
  3. Add the chocolate mixture to the oat and mix thoroughly – I find it easier to use my hands to mix this well.
  4. Preheat the oven to 180C, gas mark 4.
  5. Lightly grease a couple of baking trays. Spread the oat mixture out on the baking trays. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes until golden and crisp. Halfway through cooking give it a stir with a wooden spoon.
  6. Allow the granola to cool then mix in the berries or raisins and store in an airtight container.

Did You Know?

Swap some of the oats for desiccated coconut if wished. Other gluten free flakes like quinoa or rice flakes can replace the oats.
