This is an amazing rejuvenating smoothie. You may have heard of mushroom coffee – this is my variation but even better!  I have included lion’s main mushroom powder which has been studied for its ability to support brain cell rejuvenation but you can use a mixed medicinal mushroom powder which is also incredibly beneficial for brain health. If you cannot get MCT oil then use coconut oil in this recipe. Bullet Proof Mocha Mushroom Smoothie

What’s good about it?

MCT oil medium chain triglycerides is superfuel for the brain and naturally found in coconut oil. You can use it as a supplement or add it to drinks and dishes. If you cannot tolerate coffee you could try yerba mate. Yerba mate is a traditional South American brew that’s been said to offer the “strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate” all in one beverage. It is made from the dried leaves of an evergreen holly, Ilex paraguariensis, a native plant of South America and known for its ability to boost mental energy and performance.

  1. Place all the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth and creamy.
  2. Pour into glasses and scatter with grated chocolate or cacao nibs if wished
  3. Best drunk immediately

2tbsp / 30g chocolate protein powder

1tbsp raw cacao powder

½ tsp ground cinnamon

1tbsp almond nut butter

1tbsp xylitol, erythritol or stevia to taste

1tbsp lion’s mane mushroom powder or medicinal mushroom powder

150ml hot or cold brewed organic coffee, yerba mate or green tea

150ml almond milk

1tbsp coconut oil melted or MCT oil

to top: cacao nibs or grated chocolate
